Russian Smoke-Screen

I really want some comments on this one. The story behid is that I

was on a Car show at Mantorp Park in Sweden wher this Russian

Aircraft was one of the paus attractions. The Sun was above the

clouds and it was quite gray. I converted it to a version of Sepia

and im quite pleased with the shape of the smoke.

I very much like how the smoke blends with the clouds on the right side. It almost looks like you could see right through it.

 

The shading in the clouds is also excellent, with the darker area in the lower right and the sun coming through on the opposite side. Very nice shot.

I've been looking through several hundred excellent photos and this was the first one I had to write about. It's a striking composition. I saw the plane but wasn't sure what the picture was about. Drama! What kind of wizzardy is it? And then I understood with the direction of the plane and the smoke expanding towards the left and upwards. It is beautiful. Thanks.

The best thing about this photo is that you can manipulate the plane with your eyes and change the direction it is travelling. In one aspect it could be simply travelling away from you and in the other it could be rounding back. It reminds me of an Escher picture! It also looks like it was taken from another plane in the sky. Great shot!
