With almost everyone looking back at me this is a stunner of a crowd shot. I do feel as if I've been caught in the act...

A very happy shot Jack, the faces in the crowd as good as the main subject. An illusionist I'm guessing, whatever he's doing, your timing was great.

this picture will age beautifully, and with so many interesting things going on will never lose the entertainment value all important in a picture... Gets better with repeat viewings.

Technically flawless, excellent composition and perspective, and ... curious.  The ambiguous facial expressions and hand positions of the people in the crowd, taken together with 7 mystery eggs (or balls?) and a contorted street artist staring at them, perhaps wondering what to do next - these all have my head spinning.  And that's precisely what separates this image from mundane ones.

A favorite for everyone? Maybe not, but definitely a favorite for me.

Thanks for the interesting comments on this picture. A little background: I happened on this street entertainer/juggler on the way home from shooting and ended up taking a million pictures from different angles. At this moment I was shooting from some steps in the rear as he was concluding a segment. He was aware of me and then suddenly whirled around and gave me this pose much to the delight of the crowd. Personally I love pictures like this where you get a chance to study a whole host of individual reactions in a crowd.

Smile, you're on 'Candid Camera".  I bet you weren't expecting to end up being the main attraction. So much for 'fading into the woodwork'.  Nice composition though with the balls providing some relief in the lower right sector.  Best, Len.

Fantastic capture. So many happy faces responding to the performer and to your presence!!!  I don't think I have seen an image with so many happy faces here on PN before (mind you I have only seen a limited number of shots :). Anything to make us smile--thanks for this one Jack. Technically it is an excellent capture!

Yes, the reactions of those in the crowd are wonderful.

On a technical level, this is superb.  I wish my B&W shots looked like this.

Hi Jack:

Wow! What a wonderful photograph. Yes, the most obvious facts are certainly commendable, as I guess it is not easy to have everyone agree to "pose" for you. You must have offered a nice treat, or I wonder if you first had to make a funny face.... Aside from that, I very much like the technicals: superb sharpness, great contrast, and the interesting relationship between foreground and background, from an empty corner to a crowded background. The balls are in such a strategic position, that the sheer technical capability to capture such a shot - I guess somehow hurriedly - is astounding. Magnificent in every respect. Super like this photo.

Best regards.
