The cold temperatures are creating some interesting ice formations.

looking.

Holger,

You have captured some very nice detail in that ice.  Thanks for sharing.  We have had a mild winter so far in Texas but the forecast is for a bit of sleet in a couple of days.  Looking forward to Spring.

Thanks Bill, Patsy. As I write this it's snowing again and we just came out of below zero temps yesterday, so I'm with you Bill I can't wait for spring.

This is some remarkable looking ice with all of the random shapes and placement!  I love how it's tinged with white snow. I really like this a lot.  You could get yet another image out of this by cropping from the top.  The shapes could stand alone as an abstract image.  Well seen and captured!

Holger, I like the way you have the skyline very high in the frame. By including the sea and sky, you let us know this is a beach yet by the placement you emphasize the beach and not the sea or sky. Well done.

Amazing ice formations, they look like a rustic kind of crazy paving used in landscape gardening. I think it looks great as part of the landscape, but I would imagine you could get some really interesting abstract shots from it too!

Compliments & Best Regards

Very well documented, Holger. Sure seems a photographer's paradise, albeit cold and perhaps inhospitable.

Dear Margaret thank you so much for your visit and comment, those rocks are actually the ice, one can easily see from the detail in the ice how you could think they could be rocks. Thanks again.

It certainly has been a record year for unusual ice formations due to the drastic temps!!! Impressive capture Holger!!  I'm sure you have felt the Wind Chills as we have.  While we wait for warmer weather, it still is great to see such unusal shots. I hope we all see better temps soon!!
