This is from an artistic performance at a local park.

I purposely shot without looking through the viewfinder, autofocused

for moving subjects with a 1/10th shutter with an aperture of 6.3

I had no idea what I was going to get, but I kinda dig the movement.

I try my hardest to not obey all of the photographic rules except

composition. I would like to see what others think of this photo,

being basically a lucky or unlucky shot.

Heidi, excellent capture - the good thing here is the captive of the event by virtue of those motion and maintaining a reasonable freeze of the subject (the dancer in red) nicely placed underneath the green brouse. I don't play too much significance to composition rule neither but the part-head of the green dancer does bother me a little, imo might as well crop to the neck so that the eye can be drawn solely to the subject girl ? Just a thought. Otherwside, the image is very good indeed !

very good use of shutterspeeed and I really love the perspective you`ve chosen...if the woman in front had her had not cropped of this would have been perfect

...i think this has perfect composition, no problem at all with the cropped head. I don't really like the way the colors came out, though. Especially the green. Try tweaking them, and then try this as a monochrome. Tons o' potential. cheers

Wow, striking image. It's rare to capture such a complex and interesting composition in a split-second action scene. I agree that a little experimentation with color balance and saturation (or lack thereof) could pay off bigtime.

I love this photo. If you crop the green dancer about chest high she looks like a tornado, a metaphor to the movement and secondarily framing the yellow dancer. Very cool. Nice work.

I enjoy this photo. The movement is great. You could even play with it in photoshop.

Manipulate the image to allow the yellow dancer to be the focus.

I can't add anything to what's already been said. The composition is absolutely awesome. Get those colors at the right level and its a masterpiece in my opinion. Great work.

Yes - a crop to the central figure at her neckband would be perfect, leading your eye straight to the yellow dancer. An excellent picture!
