photogagog 0 Posted December 16, 2014 Hi David,I don't know whether to like or hate this image...and that's probably a good sign. Compositionally, i like the implied "V" shape created from her head and yours...it creates an interesting balance and contrast. I like the self awareness of the photographer in the image that forces the viewer to be the implied photographer. THAT is where i start to dislike the image but only because of my personal bias. It does truly make me uncomfortable and feel like an unwanted intruder. If your reflection wasn't there, this would not be anything remarkable, but what makes it is the reflection. A good photograph should be more than the content, but gauged by the emotional response it creates in the viewer. If this was intentional during the shoot, then bravo! if it was a "happy accident" (and we all have those) then bravo for recognizing it in post. --PatrickD Link to comment
davidmccracken 2 Posted December 17, 2014 It is kind of you to write so much on an image that you are not sure if you like or not. I think my own opinion about this image is that it is interesting. The feeling of an 'unwanted intruder' is a feeling I am glad you experience. Whether it was intentional or lucky is an interesting question. In truth, before I took the shot, I was not thinking of putting myself in the shot. It was clear when I was about to take the shot that I would be in it. I guess that means it was intentional. (Doesn't it?) Perhaps I will settle for a 'happy accident.' In truth, what I like about this image is the fact that the young lady was happy to share her moment in the shower with me. Thanks a lot. gsphotoguy 3 Posted December 18, 2014 If this started as an accident it did turn out well. The reflection, where your face is visible but the camera hardly appears, does add the same feeling I get from watching "Psycho!". Thank you for sharing this one and hope we see more accidents soon. davidmccracken 2 Posted December 19, 2014 If I posted all my 'accidents' I think you would lose interest very quickly. However, if I find one or take one that is mildly interesting, I will be sure to post it. Thanks a lot. Link to comment
