Not Here 93 Posted November 17, 2014 It works. A little surreal but well presented. Welcome to PNet... Mike Link to comment
photogagog 0 Posted November 18, 2014 Hi Frederick,Thanks for sharing. So, to your question here's how it does work: I think you did a great job at capturing the subject. The focus is deep and sharp. This was a fast moving subject, so your use of shutter speed for such an overcast day is done very well. I do like the drama of the engines throwing smoke is good, but gets lost in the background due to color. How could you make this better? I think there's a lot of foreground that could be cropped out as it doesn't really add to the drama. The sky isn't helping, but not much you can do about that other than darkening it up and increasing the textures (this may also help in highlighting the exhaust) Having the plane in the dead center vertically and horizontally kind of makes it a bit static when i think you're looking for the "drama" of the image. If you were to put the plane on the left side of the image and given it more visual runway to the right, you'd be adding the implication of something about to move...it's like photos of running animals, you want to give them an implied area in the image to run.--PatrickD Link to comment
Roger G 1,908 Posted November 26, 2014 Hi Frederick, I think PatrickD has made excellent points. You had to deal with typical English weather, making life tricky. The major issue I have is the foreground which I do not think helps the image - the nearby red and white blocks and further back the bright amber ?light just under the nosewheel are quite distracting. Wait for better weather I'd say, and crop differently. Thanks for posting. Link to comment
