Many Thanks for your interest and kind words. The 500 mm focal length worked very well, picked out good detail and nicely blurred the background as you observed, I am very pleased with this lens.

Best Regards

Just as I recover my balance after being blown away by your previous offerings you trump them with this one.  I doubt you pre-visualized this shot but," f8, and be there!" , serendipity, luck, whatever, you do damn fine work!  My good shots go on the refrigerator,  yours go on the wall, preferably large, on a gallery wall.  I came across a Nature photo site the other day which seems quite a few cuts above the average nature site.  Thought you might be interested if you haven't already come across it.  http://www.naturalart.ca/  Sorry, I don't know why the link didn't take.  Best, LM.

My sincere thanks for your most encouraging comments!

Of course it seems like luck, good fortune and yes it is, but I suppose what the shot doesn't reflect is the multitude of out of focus shots where I stumbled or the deer moved, or when they put their heads back down below the grass, or when another photographer stepped into view.  I think they turned around because the felt sorry for me in the end : - )

Thank you also for the information on the other web site, I will take a good look at that!

Always good to hear from you Len!

Best Regards

How breathtaking it must be when you come across such majestic animals. Excellent detail in their features, lovely softness in the fall background. I have only seen one buck with his haram at the edge of our woods where we once lived. I caught my breath, and even though they were far off, I didn't dare breath or move. I did not have a camera at the time. I wish I had. But then again, they were so far off that I would hot have had a decent lens of any length to get the capture. I will have to stay happy with my memories of the moment. You must have so many memories, and as I just read your remark to Len, probably some are quite funny! Fabulous Capture Alf!

I remember seeing my first glimpse of these creatures when I was in Scotland about 5 years ago, my hands were shaking that much I couldn't hold the camera still (well that was my excuse) lol  But I was particularly fortunate on this occasion, these guys turned in unison to look at me as if to say, "keep your distance" ...which of course I did : - )

Thank you so much for your interest and thoughtful feedback!

Makes up for all the shots when they stuck their heads in the long grass, or behind a tree, not to mention the ones that I managed blur all by myself : - )

Thanks Steve!
