lauramarco 0 Posted December 20, 2014 Dear Stéphanie, I find very interesting blurred foreground and focused latern and being this last one the center of your shot. I think it's a very beautiful image, perhaps late in the afternoon with softer lights or sunrise, the photo would be more closed. But sometimes the moment for taking it, is what it is.I've seen your portfolio and I really like it, congratulations!. Anything related to Japan or Japanese art makes my head spin. You've got the most emblematic places like Kyoto, Kamakura etc. Kamakura Daibutsu with :)There're many places to get amazing photographs: Mount Fuji, Miyajima, Hiroshima etc. I have an uncle who works at Sophia University in Tokyo (Chiyoda-ku). Thanks to him I know many places, but I went years ago with my analog camera :( pity!Continuous taking pictures. You have so much potential.Good luck and all the very best !, warm regards, Laura. st_phanie_bret 0 Posted December 30, 2014 Hi Laura !Thanks a lot for your kind comments! Yes I was lucky enough to visit Japan last Spring, but unfortunately we spent only 9 days there, and due to bad lighting (and my lack of talent) I have very few nice pictures. As I'm a great Japan enthousiast, I plan to go there again at least in Autumn and again in Spring too...Regarding this shot, I must admit I love stone lanterns, I can't help but shoot any I see. I find them so very delicately and amazingly carved... I liked the brigth foreground flowers and the green-and-grey background very much... I also tried to do the same with pink flowers but I think the result is perhaps a little worse...Anyway, thanks again for you warm critique ! Link to comment
