pasbartz 0 Posted September 24, 2014 Istiklal is probably the most famous avenue in Istanbul. It is located in Peran, a well-known historic district inhabited from many Greeks and Italians until the beginning of the 20th century. Hundreds of luxury boutiques, music stores, art galleries, patisseries, restaurants, clubs, cafes, bookstores and libraries are situated in this busy area. Dozens of thousands of local citizens and tourists as well, are crossing through the pedestrian street every day. That evening, while I was slowly walking on my way back to Galata, I was thinking how alive, continuous and complicated is the modern rhythm in this wonderful old-style street, with influences and sounds from the East and the West. It is somewhat contradictory, as everything in Istanbul. I was really tired after more than 12 hours strolling around the neighborhoods of the old city. But the chance to depict in an image what you feel, must never be ignored. As I saw the decorative grating to fall down slowly, I turned on my camera quickly. It was the aspect of Istiklal I wanted to express, that specific moment. Always on the move, always vivid, even at the end of the night! Link to comment
