michael_d_davis 0 Posted September 20, 2014 RaymondYOU are a fan of harsh shadows on the wall behind your models. How is this pose flattering to this beautiful model in any way? As far as the people saying great composition I think they get excited just to see a half naked or naked women. I guess I am not young enough or just too old to be influenced by a naked body when it comes to photography. Appreciating a nude beautiful woman has its time and place. Im not trying to be a (fill in the blank) to you. Just my 2 cents Link to comment
Elstad 9 Posted September 20, 2014 Your write, dear Michael, amuses me it does. I too am much too old to be titillated by the nude form (pun fully intended). There are many Many MANY more, lets just say, traditional nudes out there for you to not get excited over... Go and find them. Or... stick to your flowers and birds, they won't challenge your pedestrian views of what a photo 'should' be. Link to comment
John Peri 1,032 Posted September 20, 2014 I have never understood the "shadow" argument in photography, everything and everyone casts a shadow, are we to remove them, will it make a photo better and why is that? The sun is shining and my wife who is sitting nearby is casting a huge shadow on the wall, I do not find it in the least distracting, it is how I view life around me and only ghosts do not do that as far as I know. There is a lot of glamour work in existence whose purpose is to highlight the beauty of a model, and why not, it is as legitimate an art form as any other. However, it disappoints me that someone that contributes so much originality to PN is accused of having no purpose other than to show a naked body, as if Raymond could possibly have any need that. I sympathize that there are many people out there who are passionate over birds and bees that do not relate to nude work in any form, though I don't see why one should exclude the other, I love them too, but then why bother commenting on it and attempt to demean what others do appreciate and find enjoyment in? Raymond, I would not say that this is one of your more striking images, of which there are so many in your portfolio, but I certainly understand the spirit in which it is created and commend you on the constant search to create images that challenge the viewer with a novel mix of colour, form and perspective, with your added touch of humour.
