Two blur filters applied - radial blur to the sky and Gaussian blur for the water. Saturation increased.

Here is the original.

The original is great but I really like what you did with the alterations, especially how the effect makes the water look smoother!!!  Beautiful.   AJ

A dramatic image, Tony. Very interesting to see the modifications you have brought about with the processing. Best regards.

Many Thanks and I am glad that both images (altered and original) appealed to everyone.

Christoph: I am happy to share my `secret`. I think that better results are obtained if the `right`image is selected.

Hopefully I have not failed as yet in my attempt to identify when I modify an image beyond what I saw.

When I saw the original I couldn't help saying to myself: What's wrong with it?!

IE, the same effect of perspective clouds and colors are there too!

However, fantastic look, both!

Best regards, Tony!

Tony,  Your tinkering definitely improves the image,  but your capture of this light show is great in itself.  You prove that it's the original image that matters. Excellent.   Larry

Pierre, Richard and Larry - Thanks for taking the time to visit and comment. I actually took one in portrait mode where the radial pattern extends fairly high up but I have not had the chance to evaluate it and see if it is worthwhile sharing.

In the meantime, i am hoping to have a new camera for the Fall season but everytime I settle on one, something muddies the water.  In the meantime I will continue to eke out what the Nikon D300 can produce. We are like old friends now.
