Hi Yannis

Very good timing. Did you consider to focus the image by cutting just above the coffee house text ?

A creative and interesting exercise in reality testing, Yannis . . . The image doesn't allow the viewer to reach a clear conclusion about the subject's destination.

Interesting, but the reflection of the flash doesn't work for me, disrupting the continuity and seamlessness which would be important to the effectiveness of the shot.

I like it as well, though I'd like to see another version taken a bit sooner when the reflection is fully visible. Not sure it would have been any better, but the man's face being cut off is a bit distracting to me.

I took the man's face disappearing behind the pole to be much the point of the photo. Gives it that touch of surrealism.

Interesting moment . I agree with michael that we don't know were he is going,to /and or from, but for sure not to the coffee house.....;-))

True guys, the blending into the post is probably what the photographer intended (or if not intended initially, is what he particularly liked when reviewing the shot). I doubt he had complete control over the positioning of the subject, and it was a clever eye that saw the potential. For me, it's off just slightly because the reflection will 'blend' prior to the other figure reaching the same point. A 'perfect' shot would have had the hands of each figure disappearing into the pole. But I realize that's being extraordinarily picky, and I offer that opinion not as a criticism, but as a point of discussion.

Bill, consider what you see as an alternative take on "me and my shadow." And, by the way, who's to determine that the two figures can't reach the same point? It's not like matter and antimatter occupying the same space.

Bill, IMO, the shot you describe would not be more "perfect" at all. It would be more symmetrical, feel less spontaneous and be

a less challenging photo for me. The asymmetry gives it its edge, if there is one. I don't love the photo but would definitely

defend it against your proposed change. As shown, it has a more lived feel than a more static and measured composition likely would.
