michaellinder 16,612 Posted July 25, 2014 How many times can I use the term "masterpiece" without becoming repetitious or boring. Too bad, folks - this image indeed is a masterpiece. For openers, the frame is filled predominately with open space and few objects. This sort of simplicity is echoed in what some may consider a dull or uninteresting color palette. To me, the colors fit perfectly. And, the clouds comprising the blue and white walls of what looks like a passageway give the image a heavenly feel. (Having never been to heaven, I use the term "heavenly" metaphorically.) As for the story - The subject is standing in between shadows cast by stone objects that either are simply historical monuments or are gravestones. I tend to think the latter, since the subject very well may be walking away from them. Perhaps this is her was of attempting to escape a painful history - whether familial, historical, or personal. Yet, her wearing a fresh white flower indicates to me that her future may be a bright one. My best always, michael Link to comment

Pierre Dumas 278 Posted July 26, 2014 Bravo, Michael! This is one of the best critiques of yours! And this must be a masterpiece since you discovered all I wanted to say with it! I haven't been to Heaven neither, but this is not the Heaven itself, just a lobby to it, la Romana is waiting to be accepted together with her past or better to say with the past of her nation and culture symbolized with the graves which are genuine Roman! Thank you! PDE Link to comment
Pierre Dumas 278 Posted July 26, 2014 Thank you Bill, I spared the most of the tons of talent and now I only have few kilos! Cheers to that PDE Link to comment

lauramarco 0 Posted July 26, 2014 Dear Pierre, as for me the most beautiful in this image, it's the feeling of having created something like a tunnel of time and the clouds help to give us this kind of sensation, the cubic form, as well. The tombstones or similar means time of yesteryear, on the contrary, the woman, her dress, everything in her represents modernity. So there're significant contrasts. A very original idea, what comes after the woman? Future? Very soft tones in a harmonious combination.Congratulations Pierre. It's quite strange and compelling. I like it! Fondly, Laura M. Pierre Dumas 278 Posted July 26, 2014 Thank you, Laura! As for the modernistic look of the woman...hum, I wanted to show the ancient Romana, my knowledge about fashion sucks, obviously! The idea is culpa Romana, I think or thought when I was creating it that the Roman civilization, history, social life, jurisdiction etc are the foundation of the modern civilization which on the other hand is corrupted, sinful and in one word - wrong, bad! On this picture the question is will she be accepted in Heaven! But, I can't but accept your vision which is based on the obvious and shows that I've failed to tell my story! Maybe this one is more explicit in that regard! Best regards PDE Link to comment
