From a private beach session. I have not identified the model at her

request. If you know her, please do the same.

Beautiful model. Lovely pose. I would have loved to have seen this in colour. Blue sky, blue sea, white foam and lovely skin tones and tan lines. That said, well done!

With the wonderful colours of sand and sea, I understand Glenn's comment, but I also enjoy the somewhat vintage effect of black and white to which the image is well suited. I wondered momentarily about the central figure, but then realized that the configuration of the shore and coastal lines serve to balance the image well. An enjoyable image, bravo.

Mark.  Lovely shot.  I like the expression and gaze.  It really makes me wonder what she is looking at.  Wonderful composition as well.  I love where you put the horizon and that her head is just below it.  The wave makes a nice relief from the horizontal composition as well.  Black and White all the way.  Great shot.  Dana...

Thank you all for the comments on this photograph.

Glenn - Yes, color would have been nice if the sky had actually been blue at that time. The evening was mostly overcast which explains the very pretty, soft light.

John - I always worry about placing the figure like this but feel that the shape of he body provides enough flow.

Dana - I am pleased you like the diagonals of the wave. When I am at this location at this beach I try to get that element in the images.

Pretty model and nice B/W tones.    I'd like to see it zoomed in more and with less DOF to make her stand out and jump of the page.   The surf is too big and busy and detracts.  She also doesn't seem too happy.   Nice shot.

Alan - Thank you for your thoughts on this image. I feel the looser crop is necessary to provide a sense of environment. At one level I wish I had made it wider. The depth-of-field is certainly not deep and might have been better slightly shallower but, again, the surroundings are important so too little might have softened the waves too much. As for her expression, Dana points out that it lends a feeling of mystery, exactly what I was going for. Trust me, she had a great time at the session and is very happy with the result.
