sarah_mcnulty 5 Posted July 26, 2014 Hi Alf,What wonderful use of light and conditions! Not an easy task and you have captured this place and moment in time so well. As always very well thought out composition - your eye being led from the ladder/stile through to the water and hazy sun beyond! Lovely work Alf!Best wishes. Sarah Link to comment
alfbailey 4 Posted July 26, 2014 Thank you for your interest and thoughtful comments, much appreciated! Best Regards Alf SARAH Good to hear from you, I hope you are keeping well! The little wooden Stile was a useful foreground point of interest, I took shots from 3 - 4 different angles and at different heights, but I think I liked this one best. Sincere Thanks for your thoughtful and encouraging feedback! Best Regards Alf Link to comment

alfbailey 4 Posted July 30, 2014 Thank you so much for stopping by and viewing this one! It's very gratifying to read that you enjoyed doing so.I have photographed this location a few times, but never in such misty conditions. The strange thing was, that even though it was thick mist there was still quite a strong breeze blowing. In fact this little corner of the lake was the only place I could find that was out of the wind. Always good to hear from you! Kind Regards Alf Link to comment
swede621 0 Posted August 1, 2014 Another superb landscape, my friend. Creates a very calming mood. Love the composition as usual. Also, amazing image (to me at least) shooting into the sun.Dumb question: Since the shutter speed was 1/2000, could similar results have been achieved hand-held (if no tripod was available) ? Glad to see you back on PN. Hope your work schedule has become normalized.Cheers... Jerry Link to comment
alfbailey 4 Posted August 1, 2014 Always good to hear from you! Answer to the first question .........yes it is very likely that similar result could be obtained hand held with a shutter speed of 1 / 2000 sec. However the reasons I continue to use a tripod under these conditions are two fold. Firstly it is insurance to capture that moment whilst minimising any chance of the shot being blurred, and secondly by habitually using a tripod it becomes second nature and you I am less likely to be tempted into not using it ...........if that makes any sense : - ) And yes thankfully my work load has returned to some semblance of normality! Thank you so much for your thoughtful comments and positive feedback. Best Regards Alf Link to comment
thadley 15 Posted August 4, 2014 This is the type of image that I would like to capture. I had an initial feeling about cropping some of the sky but I concluded that it would upset the balance. Very well done. Link to comment
alfbailey 4 Posted August 4, 2014 Thank you so much for your thoughts and positive feedback!I dare say it could stand a small amount of cropping, but the image is virtually untouched apart from tones and sharpening adjustments and these days I try to do as little as possible in terms of PP work. rjmelone 3 Posted August 11, 2014 A wonderfully captured moody spectacle Alf! Perfect framing and love the foreground elements and use of lines. If this was on a distant wall at a studio, I would immediately be drawn to it. Fabulous work, as always my friend! Link to comment
alfbailey 4 Posted August 12, 2014 Good to hear from you and Thank You for your interest and thoughtful feedback.Mist always adds that extra element for me but I think the trick is finding something visible in the foreground also. Best Regards Alf Link to comment
