As a novice photographer of birds, only recently bitten by the desire to photograph them, I must admire this shot.  Two for one!  Looks like Papa got dinner and then passed it on to Mom.  I can hear her call from here: " You're late"!  :-)  I suspect that your + exposure compensation was a result of past experiences.  I also suspect you staked out this location based on past experiences.  Care to elaborate?  Whatever, well done, a fine study.  Best, LM.
