Michelle, IMO you have a very good starting point for this image. You had pretty good settings - you might think about using F8 when your background is this far from the subject. You would still get a blurred background and little more focus on the tail etc. I am not a pro photographer but I will share my opinion and you can take for what it is worth. I would prefer a little darker image and a closer crop. I took the liberty to PS this to my taste and you can see what you think.
