I liked too much this photo but I think that it could be better if:

1- You had choosen another background ... this one is tooooo distractive.

2 - You haven´t crop her beautifull hands.

Otherwise, the photo is very good. I liked the girl´s pose and her "lost in nowhere" eyes ... very good capture.

The clothing and look on her face are timeless, I bet you can look 50 years from now at this picture and it will still look just as good, much like our grandparents' pictures where they were all dressed up in those B&W pictures. However, I just wished there wasn't anybody on the bench, and I do like the bench to be there, but just empty, it would give it depth.

Hi James!

This is a nice shot. It is amazing that you pulled this off. She's off to the side and the square format chops off the top of her hat and the bottom of her hands while stretching the background out. The out of focus background takes up about 60% of the picture. A photograph like this ought to be a disaster but you have created something quite dazzling and delightful. Whatever did you do right?

My first impression was that this was like the opening scene of a movie. The photograph makes you think, "What's going to happen next?" That intense feeling of anticipation is what makes it. The woman is also beautiful. What beautiful women are anticipating is always interesting. (At least I have always thought it so.) Now how do you accentuate the beauty of the woman and that breathless sense of anticipation? By juxtaposing her with something commonplace, bland and not terribly attractive. That is exactly what you have done. Having her to the side rather than dominating the picture front and center makes her presence tentative, which raises the suspense. Suspense can be seen in the tightness of her mouth and in the way she holds her hands. There is something sexy in her expression and the configuration of her hands. This suggests that whatever she is waiting for is something good--like romance.

I like the way the top of her hat and the bottom of her hands are cropped. The former centers the eyes' attention on her face. The latter accentuates the tension of her hands.

Very good photo. Two thoughts:

1. If you know this lady, perhaps you could persuade her to stand where the other gent's backside isn't visible in the frame. Foreground/background separation is quite good, but still ...

2. If you don't know this lady, you should get to know her!
