gordonjb 10,860 Posted May 26, 2014 Spring has finally sprung and the toads are out in the pond singing to attract a mate. Link to comment

Guest Guest Posted May 26, 2014 Rarely do photos come with such personality, whether of people, nature, animal, or landscapes. This one has it in spades. Square format works effectively, toning is luxurious, light is expressive, and branches at top left provide compositional interest that helps define space in the frame. It's got a watery feel to it, and a decided quirkiness. The oddity is alluring. Link to comment

Jack McRitchie 150 Posted May 26, 2014 You've always had a great touch when it comes to shooting animals and fish. This is everything a toad should be. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted May 28, 2014 Thanks for a new English word;-)) Toad is a real nice creature as well as a model for a photographer which is reddy with the prepared camera. I wonder what is the object that is the "pillow"for it...? very nicely composed and timed! Link to comment
gordonjb 10,860 Posted May 29, 2014 Pnina, the pillow is the toads throat. The throat is filled with air like a balloon and then the air is expelled past a a membrane with makes a shrill chirping sound. The toads use the sound to locate a mate. Link to comment
