Jim...

Love this shot where you caught him in full singing mode with his beak open.  Great detail and great colors in a very natural habitat.  Still can't find the ID in my bird book but I will continue to research.

Thanks, Have you seen them in Texas?

I'm still researching too!

As soon as I get caught up here a bit, I'm heading over your way, . . . I noted a Painted Bunting I think you shot today!

Yes, this one really enjoyed the singing.

A couple of nights ago while out at the lake I had gotten a recording of one of these guys on my phone's voice recorder, although no shots as the sun had already went down. Replaying it today in a different location was very productive! One of the few times the challenge was getting him to land far enough away so I could focus on him. A couple of times I thought he was going to land on my lens hood! . . . seriously!

Cheers Bill!

Regards always,

Jim j.

Jim.....not sure, but I think this may be a warbler.  There are so many different kinds.  A friend of mine who is an avid birder just showed me some pictures she took of warblers, and they looked very much like this.  At any rate, it's a great shot with his mouth open, and good DOF as well.

Cute bird and well out of focus background! Beautiful attractive vivid colors!

Bravo Jim!

Best regards

The Warblers seem to fit the description the best from what I can tell. Although I have yet to find the specific one you indicated in my Birds of The World handbook.

I've got another handbook to check yet before I start an online search!

Thanks again,

Jim j.

Jim - this is a beautiful image. I'm not great at id-ing birds, but I think this may be a blue wing warbler. Their summer territory is mostly along the northeast coast of the US. If you don't already know, Cornell has a terrific website where you upload a bird image and get help with an id. http://birds.cornell.edu/onlineguide/

I have no idea what this little guy is, we don't have them here, but gosh, what a great shot.  I can just hear him as he "sings to you each morning". Perfect color, DOF, and presence....  Mike
