Thanks for taking the time to view, comment/critique, rating and,

allowing me the opportunity to share!

Was trying to capture some of range of colors in the natural light of the

afternoon "magic hour."

Toned down the contrast just a bit and added a slight bit of sharpening

and resized only in post.

Any other suggestions? I'm all ears!

Thanks again,

Jim j.

Jim,

I really like the light and colors in this image.  I know we have wild turkeys in the Texas Hill Country but I have not seen one yet.  We are having another blast of arctic air as I know you are as well since you are farther north.  You had perfect lighting when you shot this image.  Bravo!

Great shot of this plump hen (guessing since there's no beard).  Beautiful colors in the feathers...  Mike

Bill, . . . This was shot back in Mid-December when it was indeed much warmer than now! We're forcasted to be below zero in the morning. When I was a bit younger it would not have been unusual for me to be out with my Camera but, . . . now, I probably won't get far from the Furnace in the morning!

Mike, . . . Yes, a Hen, no beard with this one. This flock does have a couple of mature Toms/Gobblers and several Jakes & Jenny's! . . . . Yeah, I know, . . . I had to look up what we should properly call a group of Turkey or their young! Lol!

Thanks to you both for your visits and encouraging comments!

I've never taken images of birds that much but I think you did very well, good use of lens, I really like the subtle sunny hues in the background. You got good colour and decent detail in this pretty big bird. I want to call it a Turkey, but our wild turkeys aren't as colourful. Very nice shot.

Thanks for your visit and encouragement!

I think our wild Turkey is the Eastern Turkey and unless you can catch them in good light they really do look dull. But, get some good light on them and regardless of the males or females, their color is like I was fortunate enough to capture here. They are really colorful and interesting IMO!

No apology necessary. Heck, I too had to look up and learn that the group of Turkeys is called a Flock, the young males are called Jakes, the young females are called Jenny's. Then of course we've got the mature males called Gobblers or Tom's and, yes, the mature females are the Hens.

Again, thanks for your visit!

Hi Jim what a beautiful shot of this hen.  The light hitting the bird from a low angle brings all the colors out.  I haven't seen turkeys when I had my camera with me, but I surely would like to catch one.
