mirkal 1 Posted February 19, 2014 The most strange orchid I have seen ever found in Vilcabamba, southern Ecuador in the private botanic collection of Mr. Tello. According his information he brought this kind of extraterrestrial looking orchid from the very last wild location he knows (no details about where it is of course) where only some 20 of these orchids are still preserved. Enjoy it, unfortunately I had just a simple snapshot camera by hand on this occasion. Link to comment
krpradu 125 Posted February 19, 2014 Miroslavthis is a very, very interesting ever seen orchid to me.I know that there are an huge numbers of varieties from this specie but this looks as you describe unusual but very good. Why nature created this lot of shapes and colors?no answer yet.I appreciate the story and that you presented us,what I do not like is that unfortunately petals are overexposed,if you have again possibility to do it again used an indirect enough light,or do not one shot maybe three with different settings to have all flower as need, just my humble opinion from someone who love a lot flowers.my best regards Link to comment
rkynast 1 Posted February 19, 2014 I love this unusual flower. It is unfortunate that you only had a small snapshot camera with you for this capture, but I think properly exposing the outer petals with it would block up the color on the inner petals. Still, it is a beautiful shot. Thanks for sharing it with us. Regards. Link to comment

tamaramar 0 Posted February 20, 2014 Wow! Read a story, thank you! So the photo is almost journalistic! I bet, the owner wouldn't allow it if you had a big camera with a long lens... Best regards, Tamara Link to comment
mirkal 1 Posted February 23, 2014 Thank you all for your comments, I agree petals are overexposed, as I mentioned I had only simple G12 by hand. I have no idea what is the scientific name of this particular orchid, I know little about flowers anyway but this one was so extraordinary I could't avoid to publish it. Link to comment
