Appreciate your positive input Michael. Helps reinforce I am going in the right direction. Actually, Riley loves skateboarding and the hat is from DGK CLOTHING, I don't know much about the line, just that it is popular with many 'skaters'.

So I blew it on the hat.  It still helps to characterize this young man's individuality.

Young people tend to get such a "bad press" these days, it's so refreshing to read such positive attributes about a teenager! 

The portrait gives me the impression that he is a sensitive soul, and I like the way you have removed the distractions allowing the viewer to ponder the features and expression of Riley.

Many thanks for those compliments Alf. Riley truly is and always has been a very nice boy. He is growing up so quickly. 13 will soon be 16 and after that time goes even faster. I hope only the best for him as he matures into a young man.

My sincere thanks for your visit and for sharing your thoughts on how I 'managed' this composition. He is a teenager (well, just turned 13), and I'm sure from here on out, he will grow up very quickly!!  My husband and I are very proud of our Grandson. His Mom has done a terrific job of raising a very polite young man.
