I was actually performing on stage behind this Michael Jackson

impersonator. He drew quite a crowd and was excellent. In a moment

while I wasn't playing I decided to take this unusual rear shot of the

performer and the venue.

Christal, an amazing shot of lots of "fans".  Looks like several hundred or maybe thousands in attendance.  And you did not lug your heavy DSLR and lots of lenses to your performance, but shot this with an easily carried point and shoot.  Well done.  I like it.

Bill.....haha.....yes, I used my point and shoot......and with one hand no less because I had my violin in my other hand.  Plus, I had to be discreet and couldn't even put the camera up to my eye.....so it was largely guess work.  But I got some interesting shots from this perspective....and the audience was so enraptured with the singer that they didn't even notice me with a camera.  Thanks for your interest.

This is a great timing and point of camera. Well observed, and composed!

As you probably know the best tool is the photographer's eye and mind, and the camera is only the second on line...;-))

I love the light and warmth from the stage that bathes the front few rows of people , I sometimes think the crowds are more interesting than the performers, and its great to be able to see the expressions of their faces here!

I was just thinking.........here was a great opportunity for you to indulge in the latest photo and FB craze of the "selfie" with the crowd behind you : - )

I hope you entered this in the contest?

Compliments & Kind Regards

The warm light and composition are brilliant. This warm light contrasts with more sedate lighting in the distance. Well done.

Pnina.....I just read about your broken shoulder.  I left you a message on one of your recent images.

Alf.....I'm not fond of being in front of the camera, so I'm not about to take a 'selfie'!  :-)   And yes, I posted this so I could enter it in the recent contest.  Unfortunately, it couldn't compare to Mike Mancil's extraordinary entry, which won.  But I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Tony.....thanks so much....high praise coming from you!  The sunsets at this outdoor venue are often extraordinary.  But I think the light bathing the first few rows was actually from the stage lighting.

I like how the warmth of the stage-lights transform the crowd.  That bejeweled glove.  It must have been fun to be a part of the performance.  The three kids at the front seem more perplexed than entertained.

Amazing how large crowds are attracted to  impersonators, or 'tribute artists' as they are popularly referred to now.  In my area we  have our own tribute artists vying for attention and acclimation.   How large would the crowd be if the real personality was on stage?  You've done well to capture the intensity of the crowd as well as the performer, especially in capturing the trademark white glove.  Best, LM.

Thanks, fellas!  I often find myself wishing I was photographing instead of performing!  :-)  So I'm embarking on an adventure this summer.  Tomorrow is my first day of school at the Rocky Mountain School of Photography in Missoula, MT.  I'm apprehensive, but I hope to improve by leaps and bounds this summer.
