hoosier 0 Posted December 10, 2013 I would really appreciate your feedback. Assuming you like some digital alterations, if you feel obliged to rate this one 4 or lower, please let me know what you think is lacking. I'm not offended by constructive criticism; if It's helpful, I welcome it. Best Regards, Jerry Link to comment
alfbailey 4 Posted December 11, 2013 I like the treatment generally, like an oil painting and a suitably dressed subject. It gives me the impression of an Old English Tavern and one of it's customers. The clock though..........I'm really not sure about. Although I can see it could symbolize a thought process, and indeed the impression of the man sitting in quiet reflection. The clock itself appears just a bit too obvious, maybe something smaller, more subtle and perhaps in Roman Numerals ........just my thoughts rambling on. To summarise I do like it......better without the clock though.Compliments! Alf Link to comment
hoosier 0 Posted December 11, 2013 It's hard to believe, but the clock was already there. The gentleman was just one of dozens of folks that attended the Texas Renaissance Festival dressed in steam punk attire. I know. Fortunately my son and his wife were with us, and since he's a walking reference book, I have some knowledge of popular culture. If you're not familiar with steam punk, and why would you be, it's a rather new phenomenon, and though it's interesting, I'd find it hard to explain. Suffice to say, I can't take much credit, or blame, for most of what's in this photo, just the alterations of an already fascinating image. Best Regards, Jerry Link to comment
hoosier 0 Posted December 11, 2013 I'm pleased that you like it, since I like it a lot myself, and being reaffirmed is very gratifying. Best Regards, Jerry Link to comment
alfbailey 4 Posted December 11, 2013 Many Thanks for your response and explanation, I wrongly assumed after your forewords, ref: digital alterations" that the clock had been added PP. The photograph becomes that much more bizarre and surreal knowing that the clock was in fact there in reality! Best Regards Alf. PS: - "Steam Punk" ...yes I am baffled, you are right I'm not familiar with the expression or the cult. Link to comment
thadley 15 Posted December 14, 2013 In the upper left there is a big 'thumbs up' so that is a hint that this is a well liked image. Good color tonal range. All the best and Happy Christmas! Link to comment
