Patsy, Ernest, and Starvey-Thanks for your comments-the shot was an example of serendipity, as I was looking 90 degrees away toward the direction of the setting sun (on the the section of the California coast where I live the shoreline runs east to west), when I noticed the directions of the clouds and the alignment with the pier and put  the vanishing point on the horizon.  I'm still not sure if I should correct the vertical perspective of the light pole, for me it seems to "fit" the way it is.  Thanks again, Phil

Wonderful depth and even the clouds seem to point you to a distant position.

 

Pole leaning towards the distant point or perfectly vertical makes no difference to me.
