"Can't you read the sign?" (ver. 2)

Hi Pat,

Let me comment about a few things within this photo:

I understand what you tried to achieve only by the title of the image. If it weren't for the title, I would have no idea what the point of this photograph was. Needless to say, that's not a good sign.

The problem with this image is that there is no central focus. The bike and the building and the road serve as leading lines to no where. The eye just follows the lines off the frame. A differently composed photograph, with fewer elements would make the point that you tried to make.

As a technical/compositional matter, the cutoff of the bicycle's wheel prevents the eye from establishing a beginning point of reference. Inclusion of the entire wheel would have been beneficial for this shot.

Even though I already answered to you privately, for the record... I had no idea what to put in as a title when I uploaded the pic, so that's probably a good example of a poor title choice!

I understand your point though: there's no point to the shot itself. What is this pic trying to say? Something I'll have to think of when I next press the shutter!
