This is part of a set of three photos focussed on the use of the heart

shaped necklace to lead the eye in and break up the body a little -

I'm not used to using a prop as part of a body image in this way but

both the model and I liked the outcome.

Hi Dave

I think that your idea is a clever one and I fully get what you are trying to do.  But I think that your lighting choice doesn't support the idea. There is a conflict for the viewer between looking at the heart and surrounding area, but then also being drawn to the much lighter mid torso and breast area.

If you lighting had been more on the heart and you had allowed your model's torso to fall into greater darkness then the visual communication would have been clearer.

I look forward to seeing more of your work though.

Regards

Brendan

I feel the heart works in a couple of the other images but not as well here. This pose, along with the lighting, is very strong on its own. I feel the necklace complicates it in a way that is unnecessary.

Dave.  The lighting and composition in this image are great.  I also think the texture of the skin is cool.  Overall the pendant is unnecessary and detracts from the impact of this photo.  However, way to go on putting it out there and I look forward to seeing more.  Dana...

Thanks,

I like the idea of letting the rest of the body fall into darkness beyond the necklace, and will have to think about maybe reducing the depth of field...most of all I will have to shoot the image again as I haven't got that angle without some jewellery included.

I like the line of the body through the picture and the lighting, it's interesting to read its a strong enough image without additions
