human images 4 Posted November 4, 2013 Linda... your title points beyond the nostalgic vibe autumn invariably brings, suggests something personal going on, private reflections out of my reach... What’s undeniable and accessible for me in the frame, however, is the lovely carpet of leaves bathed in a rich golden light. Eye candy best seen LARGE! Link to comment
Jack McRitchie 150 Posted November 4, 2013 Interesting comment by Carlos (as always). The feeling of nostalgia is palpable but it's the solidity of the trunk which stands out even as its shadow rushes across the sunlit carpet of leaves to blend in with the collected shadows on the left side of the picture. lliebl 5 Posted November 5, 2013 Somewhat uncanny you are, my dear Carlos. But then I have to remember you've had your fair share. Guess you both know my penchant for nature and how she invites---no, dares----us to notice. And to draw comparisons. Thanks for stopping by. . . ~~~~~~L Link to comment
wolfgangarnold 142 Posted November 5, 2013 fall leaves are kind of a stereotype subject - but you very successfully avoid all of its kitsch-ballast. Trunk and shadow work wonderful as a surrogate of the tree itself (I love the long shadows cast by low autumn sun in the clear, fresh air after a shower of rain). The leaves on the ground are another index of the tree, which is so present with its absence in this photo.Last but not least: the light is simply beautiful. Link to comment
LindaM 2 Posted November 11, 2013 I want to jump in a big pile of those leaves! I do miss fall down here. Beautiful Linda! Link to comment
alfbailey 4 Posted November 16, 2013 The dappled light and consequential colour is wonderful! The lone trunk in the T/R corner gives a tangible take on a traditional subject! Very well done! Best Regards Alf Link to comment

lliebl 5 Posted November 17, 2013 Wolfgang, Linda, Alf, & MarjoleinI wasn't sure what kind of response I'd get to this since it looks so different posted on PN from how it looks as my screensaver (I still have a desktop computer with a large monitor). By the comments it seems my intent was recognized. Thanks so much. ~~~~~L Link to comment
