paul_ensom 0 Posted August 24, 2003 The shot has a rich feel to it. I love the texture on the vines and trunk. Well captured. Link to comment
dominiquedodge 0 Posted August 24, 2003 There's a nice sort of flow to this, with the vines at the bottom and the trunk curving upwards. It seems to be growing in front of our eyes - so well done to have captured some "movement" in a static scene. I like that aspect of it. The composition works well for me. My only problem is that the top left corner of sky seems to be different from the rest (bluer and a bit darker) than the rest. This might be natural but it looks a bit strange (on closer looking the central sky zone, with faint flare, is the strange bit). Still an excellent shot, with lots of flow in it. Link to comment
ryanlee 0 Posted August 25, 2003 Paul: Yes, I think it's this tree's got wonderful character because of all those vines and the texture variation of the bark gives it somemore too. Only thing was I felt it was unfortunate it didn't have more of a crown; if it was a bit leafier I might have been able to make a longer exposure with a lusher feel.. but this one works for me too :) Dom: Thanks! You know I didn't notice that blue corner in the picture til you mentioned it? I compared the scan to the print and figured it must have happened in the scanning process. The (print's) sky wasn't pure white though, it was a kind of a grey, and the flare in the centre was actually the sun behind some clouds. My scanner cast a shade of cyan over the picture from some old settings I forgot to reset, and that's what made it bluer than it really was. Anyway, I rescanned it, and I think this one looks a bit more like the print (can't seem to get it exact though.. really frustrating..) I quite like the composition too, with all those curves.. my favorite element is the right trunk- it looks like whiplash :) Link to comment
