My heart would like to think it is  the first scenario but my brain tells me that PS strikes again.............

Your 1st scenario is correct :)  -  This is the series  that after Osrey caught the fish and chased by Pelican & Seagulls - I was fortunate be a witness the show - It was very interesting and amazed me - Osprey had the happy ending - I don't know much about PS, just increase, decrease the contrast here and there a little bit - Also I don't like to use PS with wildlife pix - To me wildlife should be natural -  Thanks for your viewing and your comment always helpful to me -

I had similar feelings ,since the clarity of the osprey looks different from the pelican - but, from your answer, you did a good job of capturing this event.
