Jim, this is a good capture of a beautiful bird.  It is well focused, well composed, and seem to be tack sharp on my laptop screen.  I assume you have a good reason not to display this in full color.

You have just forgotten!

Here was the color version submitted back in March, . . .

http://photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=17067935

Now, . . . why did I do this . . .

One of the original commentors had indicated that they would like to see a B&W version, so I finally got around to it!

So, while we're at it, we might as well put this one out there too!

You amaze me Bill, . . . your on top of these before I can even get them organized in the folders! And it always brings a smile and a chuckle!

Cheers Bill,

Jim j.

This was orginally submitted back in March in its original color version.

However, one of the commentors had indicated that they would like to

see a B&W version and I have finally gotten around to it!

While I was at it, . . . thought I might as well put this one out here for

critique/comment and ratings too!

Would really appreciate knowing whether you like the color or B&W

best and/or which shows the most distinct details.

Your visits are always greatly appreciated!

Regards always,

Jim j.

Many Thanks for the link and the consideration, much appreciated!

I like the neutral greys of this image, it has a faintly nostalgic look about it. But I would venture to say it isn't as striking as the colour version.

There needs to be more contrast and more definition between the bird and the background, but I really don't know if that is possible.

The image is first class in terms of detail and sharpness, maybe some experimentation with curves or channels to make it stand out more?

Compliments & Best Regards

Alf

Thanks so much for your time.

I admit it didn't quite work out as B&W as well as I had imagined it would. I may have to play with it some more. I admit, I didn't spend a whole lot of time in the conversion in the Hue and contrast areas. As you know, I'm no post processing expert and "curves" is pretty much non-existant in my knowledge base although I am probably doing the same thing, . . . just going about it in a different manner.

A re-visit to the post processing room may be in order! Hopefully not as punishment!

Thanks again Alf!

Regards always,

Jim j.
