Chain

I'm a beginner looking for advice - thanks

I like the shot. Only criticism: on the right bottom side, there is a black portion of a wall or something. If you cropped out this black part, the photo would be very powerful. Keep at it!!

This is a well-done photo. I love the way that the chain counteracts the oblique lines created by the pavement and shadows. I think this is what makes the photo work so well. I'm not too crazy about the dark triangle in the lower-right corner, though. If it was possible to crop that out while retaining the corner-to-corner position of the chain, the photo would probably be improved. Also, it's hard to tell from the scan, but it looks like some of the chain and pavement is out of focus. Because of the "hard" feel of the subject matter, everything should be in focus in this case. But overall, I like it.

 

I agree, this is a nice strong shot, and as the others have said, my only critique is the "triangle" in the right corner, and the slight loss of depth of field in the left corner of the chain. Otherwise, nice strong shot, and again you have a good eye for the abstract.
