A lovely composition Gail! I like the use of light as well. You must have been excited to catch this pose and yet it is sharp so you did not shake the camera. Well done. Best regards, Rob

Yes, I was very excited, at least when I realized that he was willing to let me come 'just so close' and continue to enjoy  his 'treat'. That is the point where I realized I just may have the opportunity to get an image. My sincere thanks Robert for taking the time to share your thoughts on this image.

Many thanks Neil for dropping by!! What a treat! I do hope you have been able to get out and about and capture some images. I have missed you here on PN. It is hard to believe that it is Fall. I know it will be getting cold where you live now. We are in a Frost Warning tonite. But it will warm up a bit next week. Safe travels wherever you wander!

Sincere thanks for your encouraging comments. Yes, we must be friends with the animals, but I still am very careful when I am out on my own, some can be a bit nasty. I don't know if that is because of perhaps being bit by another animal, or if they are just having a 'bad day'!! This fellow certainly wasn't!

My sincere thanks for all your help and suggestions Mike. I was a bit unsure of myself, but just decided to 'go for it'. Your advice did pay off. I need to be more confidant out there. Really what do I have to loose by trying??? Nothing really, and so much to gain.

I think it takes proving it to oneself at times. Fortunately I am open to doing just that.

Thank you for keeping tabs on me, it does help!!! ;-) Gail

Actually I think this was SUPPER ! I headed out a bit later in the afternoon. I think that is why I didn't see any butterflies or many bees. He does have a cute mouth, that little pink tongue is not often seen.

Sincere thanks Holger for your visit and thank you for letting me know that the 'fire' was not anywhere near you!

You're right, I had him cornered. I was not afraid of harassing him too much. You just got to get the capture. I haven't been offered near the price it's worth. Most popular Groundhog in these parts!!!! ;-) Gail

Hello my happy friend!! I think this fellow would have liked you a lot!!! I am so pleased to hear you enjoyed this image Alberto, I hope the bad weather is not heading in any direction near 'you & yours'!!!

Always good to hear from your Alberto, ;-) cheers for now, Gail

Isn't it amazing to see these little guys doing their business so close to us without any fear?! In Belarus it never happens - they just don't exist in big cities, I think. I am amazed every time I see them in Toronto already for 15 years. The very first week of our life in Canada (we lived in Richmond Hill for a few weeks) a big fox just crossed the street and a highway as if it was absolutely normal. May be it was.... A few weeks ago I met a deer while taking pictures of the sunset just along DVP a few steps away from the place I live...Great friend you made! All the best, Tamara

I am not surprised you saw a Deer. They are coming further South all the time and have actually been the major cause of the increase in 'Tic' bites (from what I hear-I have a few family members who have had the misfortune of being bit!). But they are beautiful to see when you are not used to seeing them in the city. I think any time that we can capture a creature that is a bit 'charming' and nor 'overly' friendly is a Bonus!!! Many thanks for sharing your experiences with me Tamara, and of course for dropping by!

I hope you Mother and brother are both doing well, so glad you had the opportunity to visit this summer!!! ;-) sincere wishes for a bountiful FALL, Gail

I'm really pleased you experienced this close encounter, I can sense the excitement and wonder of the experience from your narrative, and know just how you must have felt.

The dappled sunlight adds a warm autumnal feel to the image and the fine detail on Harry the Groundhog is to be admired!

Compliments & Best Regards
