The subject isn’t immediately visible and so our notions of

portraiture are challenged. The viewer is invited to actively work

with the image in order for the face of this unknown man to become

apparent.

I love this. I feel that every time I look at this, and i found myself looking at it a ew times, i see a different man, intriguing!

Thanks, Avital.  It's a bit of an homage to Trent Parke.  I've also been intrigued by the photography of Josh Sims, who experiments with deliberate use of blur and unconventional treatments that leave room for the viewer to interpret the images.

I guess even the most "realistic" sharply focused photograph is a translation into what a photographer visualizes. Here that is naked and obvious. I love the darkness; it would catch my eye if I saw this photo from the opposite side of a room, I'm sure.
