atlas moth

This atlas moth was resting at eye level on the glass at the butterfly

exhibit. He had flown off before we entered though. Spectacular moth.

Wow, I have never seen one of these. It is truly very beautiful! Exif Data always helps me learn re detail etc. I realize you may not want to share it but would love to know the lens and settings used. Wonderful colors and details achieved KA.

Thanks Gail.  Good point about the details.  I'll have to figure out how to get them automatically loaded.  Nikon d7000, Nikon 85 mm f/3.5 DX Micro VR, handheld 1/125 sec at f/3.5, no flash (due to the glass), VR on, iso 1100.  Background has been darkened to highlight the moth.

Sometimes moths are very underrated in their beauty.  This picture definitely captures that beauty with wonderful color, detail, lighting, and composition.  Thank you for sharing this incredible photo.
