Hi Alf,

Really liked all 3 of your B/W landscapes for a B/W competition but I think for me this one is my favourite, there is something about the composition and mood which is very striking. It's a very artistic capture and I could see this hanging on a wall! Best wishes. Sarah.

I must admit to having a soft spot for this one also. I like the minimalistic aspects of it and the feeling of solitude.

I'm not sure it would be best choice for a competition though as its quite an iconic scene.  But on the other hand its impossible to predict what the judges are looking for.

Its great to get your views on this, and I do appreciate you taking the time to study all three and state your preferences.

Many Thanks & Best Regards

Alf,

I'm way to late to be of help.  Tony referred to the white space at the top of the image, I think the rule is; avoid white elements at the edges of your photos as they will lead the viewers eye to the edge and out of the image, in this case the white does the opposite as it forces your attention down to the focal point of the image.  I like this very much!

Sincere Thanks for your thoughts and observations on this one.

It is always very useful  to get a good cross section of ideas and perceptions from experienced photographers like yourself.

I too quite like minimalistic kind of effect of the white.

Best Regards
