guillelobera 0 Posted July 28, 2013 With a length of 179 km the Hardangerfjord in the county of Hordaland in Norway is the third largest fjord in the world and the second largest in Norway. This fjord starts at the Atlantic Ocean just south of Bergen. Here the fjord penetrates in a north easterly direction until it meets the grand mountain plateau of Hardangervidda. The longest branch of the Hardangerfjord is Sørfjorden which cuts south about 50 km from the main fjord. Its maximum depth is more than 800 m just outside Norheimsund in the middle of the fjord. rshenderson 20 Posted July 29, 2013 Thanks for sharing this wonderful evening/morning image and for the information about the fjord. I live on the coast of British Columbia, Canada which also has many fjords, but here they're referred to as "inlets". The longest one being Knight Inlet on the central part of the coast which reaches in 125 kms. Best regards, Bob. Link to comment
