Guest Guest Posted July 22, 2013 Your focus works with the subject and content. It creates a good atmosphere for what the weather conditions were already providing. An alternative crop would be to crop the right side so that the bit of background is not showing and we see a little less of what is a pretty solid, and mostly not that interesting, block of hair. The action really takes place on the left 3/4 of the frame and it's fine to have more passive places in the photo, but the darkness of the hair and the lightness of the small patch of background does a lot to draw the eye. I often don't mind my eyes being drawn around the frame, even with portraits, but here my eye is drawn and there's no particular visual payoff. Even though both eyes are out of focus, the closer being more in focus orients the viewer nicely and we get a sense of the energy of the wind and how that affects our perception. Nicely conceived approach to this one. Link to comment
