I had posted a version of this scene about a month ago with the falls in a

more central position and was asked what it would look like if it wasn't so

central. Being in a fairly steep gorge the wind and the mist from the falls

made it quite slippery and difficult to change my view point, not to

mention I had to constantly wipe the moisture off the lens and camera.

Although I am more partial to the first posted image, here is the other

version. Thanks for viewing.

There are a number of elements that strike me as being pivotal in the composition. The moss covered foreground boulders, the diagonal tree, and the illuminated vegetation to the left that balances the image.

A delightful piece of work that only gets better when viewed larger.

Compliments & Best Regards

Any view of greenery, particularly maintained by nature, is always very delightful for city dwellers like me. So is this image. The dark background, farthest in the image, framed by brightly lit elements with vivid green and yellow colors, draws my attention but my eyes find nothing interesting to stay there even for a while. Perhaps it is doing a good job in keeping the focus on the elements in the foreground. The brighter colors closer and the darker farther from the eye do create a sense of depth contrary to rules for creating 3D effect. The water fall and flow captured with slow shutter speed does create an effect which seems popular with viewers. I feel to be an exception and prefer to see what the eye would in reality. Many elements individually competing for attention, the water fall, the flowing stream, the bushes, foliage, fallen tree, and mossy rocks make the image look rather busy. But for the difficult conditions that Bob has mentioned, he might have adjusted the POV for a better placement of the elements in the frame.

The composition is almost collage-like and has interest to me for that reason. The focus drops off, IMO, a bit inelegantly. Blurred water in photographic renderings of nature has become overused, IMO, and so is kind of a turn-off to me absent some other challenging or unique stylistic point of view.

It's a very pleasing composition having nothing in it but the beauty of nature. I would imagine you took the time to walk around a bit to find your chosen framing.

I like the speed chosen for the running water and don't find it overdone. Possibly a bit sharper on the foreground rocks? I have a feeling you found this and shot it hand held. Pretty shot

I would doubt that this was hand held at 1 sec. yet I would expect a sharper image than what we see here had this been shot, with good technique, on a tripod.
