So, this was an idea I had for family portraits and was completely

excited about. We had been having great weather for a week, and the

area we were going to shoot in had this great directional lighting

that I was going to supplement with a giant reflector. On the day,

however, it was overcast and rainy (rescheduling wasn't an option,

unfortunately.) Great for soft shadows on the face, not so great for

dramatic light. They sky gave a nice ambiance, but I'm a little

worried that the flat light has removed the drama. I would love to

hear what you think and any suggestions you've got.

Hello Nicole

I think the dull overcast light is better than a sunny day. I think playing with the contrast, lighting, dodge and burn would help reduce the overall flat look. I did a quick edit to show what I mean, just my 2 cents.
