The compression of the scene as you present it here really captures the atmosphere of the place, and not just in allowing more into the scene, but in conveying the density of life there. michaellinder 16,612 Posted May 16, 2013 Many of the tenement buildings in the Lower East Side that housed the wave of immigrant Jews from the late 19th and early 20th centuries still are standing and are functional. I'm not totally sure that those portrayed in this image fit that description, though. Link to comment
