GailAnthonyHarmer 6 Posted May 1, 2013 I truly love the colours in this one Alf. Spring is emerging and is having a very slow and tranquil morning. It would be lovely to have this view from a large bedroom window. It would be a weekend morning where I could languish in my feather bed and duvet, sip my cup of Tea and watch as the scene before me is slowly awakened by the increasing warmth of the sun. No 'stress' from my POV, and all would be well with the world. Lovely capture Alf. Most sincerely, Gail Link to comment

Alf ANABELA Many Thanks for your interest and kind words, much appreciated! Best Regards Alf SANDRA Good to hear from you! Thank you for having a browse, its very gratifying to read your observations. Best Regards Alf JAMIE I think we should go frantic and celebrate, it probably will never happen again : -) Alf SLAVOMIR Many Thanks for your interest and positive feedback! Best regards Alf RICHARD Many Thanks for your thoughtful observations and feedback. It can be a bit tricky to process foggy shots, but in this case I thought that "less is more" and apart from some fine tuning (sharpening) to the RAW file and a slight adjustment to the white balance, nothing else has been touched.Cheers Richard! Alf GUNNAR Many Thanks I appreciate your interest and positive feedback! Best Regards Alf TONYNo need to follow me Tony I'd willingly take you to these places and if you ever do get to the UK, I'd make sure to take time off work to allow for it. Of course I'd be looking for a return favour to visit your stunning locations : - )Oh and the speed I drive, James Bond wouldn't be able catch me!Sincere Thanks & Best Regards Alf LEN Yeah indeed petrol (gas) is an expensive commodity in the UK, but I cn't think of a better way of spending money than for travelling to places like this.Interesting suggestion the B & W, I might have a go at processing one just to satisfy my now curious mind : - )Many Thanks & Best Regards Alf PER Many Thanks for your thoughts and positive feedback, much appreciatedInteresting to note your observations "almost colourless" against Lens suggestion of B & W, I am even more curious to see a comparison now. Best Regards Alf GAIL I love your imagination Gail. What a sight to see every morning from a bedroom window <sigh> There is a boathouse on "Ullswater" (theres a photo in my portfolio of it somewhere) It has a lovely balcony that overlooks the lake, and I often dream of living there. I notice you mentioned Tea and not Coffee too, how very "English" of you : - )Best Regards Alf KARALOS These ones are not actually Scottish my friend, but geographically they are not too far away : - )I stll haven't managed to get time to upload the actual Scottish ones from last week, but hopefully I wil get time this weekend.I am really pleased you enjoyed viewing the series Karalos and thank you sincerely for your thoughts and kind words!Best Regards Alf Link to comment

alfbailey 3 Posted May 4, 2013 Sincere Thanks for your thoughts and kind words, much appreciated! The best thing about this image for me, is that the PP took about 2 minutes.Very slight alteration to white balance and a tiny amount of sharpening and that was it.Best Regards Alf JAMIE No! I never did get there but it remains on my destination list!I once asked a very well travelled person, who had resided in several different countries over many years, what would be his ideal final place of residence, and he replied without any hesitation, Croatia!Time is my enemy but I'm sure we can grab a pint up at Hebden Bridge one fine weekend!Cheers Jamie Alf Link to comment
tamaramar 0 Posted May 5, 2013 Beautiful as always landscape - you should be hired as a Royal Photographer of Great Britain! Though it is always better to be free! :) Reading your introduction I realized the worst mistake of my life - I don't drive....never could...Here I am, see the world through your eyes - I am just happy that your eyes are so great to see all this beauty! I am not joking here! Warm regards, Alf! Tamara Link to comment
alfbailey 3 Posted May 5, 2013 Wow! "By appointment to HRH" what a wonderful compliment Thank You! "worst mistake of my life" Tamara, if you can handle a camera and the intricate settings and adjustments required for the ever changing conditions, then a motor vehicle should be a walk in the park. Its all about confidence. But more importantly its about freedom and independance. Just think you would never have to ask for a lift ever again. You can go where you want when you want. Life is a long way from over, so go for it! Your wonderful potential as a photographer should not be restricted in any way.It really is very gratifying to read that you enjoyed viewing this so much, it makes it all worthwhile.Warm Regards Alf Link to comment
tibig 0 Posted May 5, 2013 A wonderful series, really beautiful the way you show what we usually think about as "English weather".Regards, Tibi Link to comment
alfbailey 3 Posted May 6, 2013 The Lake District in Cumbria is known for its above average rainfall, and I have been there when it does rain and it is persistant to say the least! The misty mornings are not as common, but far more desirable. On this occasion the weather forecast people got it spot on, an area of a few square miles had fog and they predicted it correctly. It eventually gave way to a bright sunny day, but by that time I was on my way home. Many Thanks for looking in Tibi I'm glad you enjoyed them. Jack McRitchie 150 Posted May 7, 2013 You really have the ability to evoke a sense of nostalgia and longing in your photos. It's the emotional filter through which you view your landscapes that really distinguishes your work. They always seem much more than mere travel poster shots. They have soul. Link to comment
daveinwilton 1 Posted May 7, 2013 Another wonderful looking into the beauty of The Lakes. Great job of capturing the peace and tranquility. It was a trip well spent in my opinion. Thank you for sharing. Best regards... -Dave Link to comment
dgv 1 Posted May 7, 2013 'There was a time when meadow, grove, and stream, the earth and every common sight, to me did seem apparell'd in celestial light, the glory and the freshness of a dream'. William Wordsworth, from Recollections of early childhood and who lived there! Well done my friend a lovely picture and very poetical!. Link to comment
panayotis_papadopoulos 0 Posted May 8, 2013 Welcome to the land of Oblivion...seek for the Lady of the Lake...she might guide you through the foggy places...ask her for the path to the wizard's hut...but beware, somewhere along the path lies a human being that can freeze time and natives tell stories that he's able to steal your soul if you look straight in his the eyes...Alf, as I have told you, I could write a book based on your stunning and story telling photos. Bravo my friend! Link to comment
alfbailey 3 Posted May 8, 2013 Your words are as inspirational as the lakes themselves, and as Dimitris has quoted above, these lakes and this area have inspired some of the greatest writers and poets. Simply one of the nicest compliments I have ever received. Thank You!Alf MAURIZIO I am glad you enjoyed the series, many thanks! Alf DAVE Sometimes the journey just doesn't turn out to be as planned, but it wouldn't be half as much of an adventure if that was the case. This time however everything fell into place, worth the loss of sleep and the miles.Sincere thanks for your thoughts and positive feedback Dave. Best Regards Alf DIMITRISInspired words from a master wordsmith. Of course Mr William Wordsworth was not alone in being inspired by the beauty of this area.Tennyson, Sir Walter Scott and of course Beatrix Potter were all lovers of the lakes, amongst countless others.I am honoured that you quoted such eloquent poetry in response to this image.Sincere Thanks & Best Regards Alf PANAYOTIS Sincere Thanks for your most complimentry and inspirational words.I am truly honoured that my image could evoke such spirited imaginative story telling. You write the book, and I will supply the pictures my friend : - )Best Regards Alf Link to comment

3m 0 Posted May 11, 2013 Alf, I'm not that often on PN of late, but I wanted to let you know that I much enjoyed your latest 'Lake District Fog Series'. They have a romantic and poetic feel -- Very quiet....(It even leaves room for imagination of tales of chivalry of bygone times... Avalon...)All 3 pictures are beautiful, but I like the above perhaps best of the series, for its subtle color and mood, & nicely flowing composition.best , Marjolein Link to comment
alfbailey 3 Posted May 11, 2013 Thank you so much! I think you will find it rewarding! Quite often the filtered quality of the light is great for photography, Give it a go I'm sure you'll love it! Best Regards Alf MARJOLEIN Your presence is sorely missed, by me and I suspect a lot of others! Not only because you have the ability to describe the best features of an image so eloquently, but also because you can identify possible weaknesses and offer thoughtful remedies and suggestions.Glad you enjoyed the series Marjolein, come back soon : - ) Sincere Thanks & Best Regards Alf Link to comment
alfbailey 3 Posted November 16, 2013 Many Thanks .......the continually shifting mist was a bit of a challenge but I loved the atmosphere.Best Regards Alf Link to comment
