The Spring Storm season is just around the corner here close to

Tornado Alley so I'm getting in some practice when the opportunity

permits.

Thanks for taking the time to view, comment/critique, rate and, for

allowing me the opportunity to share!

Your opinions and recommendations are greatly appreciated!

This was shot at f/16 with a bulb exposure of 2 minutes and 25 seconds

catching multiple Lightning strikes. Unfortunately, most of the strikes

were horizontal amongst the clouds with only a few "ground strikes."

Thanks again,

Jim j.

A great shot, Jim.  Lightning shots are very difficult to achieve, but you have accomplished it very well.  Bravo!

I agree that these shots are difficult to capture and I do admire your patience in capturing this. I have to say that it seems a little soft. This may be because the focus is not on the land mass. I am assuming you used a tripod and shutter release.

It doesn't matter if there were horisontal or vertical lighnings.

Story tells everything. Light and comp are fantastic so there's nothing to critique in the bad sence....

Must say I envy you Tornado alley...... Have a fantastic moments and try to avoid close encounters :-))

Best,

Vukasin

Many thanks for your visits and encouraging comments! And, my apologies for the much late response and thanks!

Bill,   I'm getting lots of practice these days. However, the "keeper rate" is very low! Hopefully I'll have time to post some more recent Lightning shots from the storms that came through here last week!

Giangiorgio,  Glad you noticed the reflection! That was my "vision" that I was hoping for in shooting the Lightning strikes from this location as the storms approach from the West. Getting the reflection though I have learned is much harder than I orginally thought it would be! (as you can see from some of the more recent postings.)

Patsy,   So much thanks for your continued support! We always like to see and hear when one of our images can create a "WOW factor" from the viewer!

David,  Not to make excuses for the "softness" of the image, . . . however, I expect the rumble from the multiple strikes and power of the Thunder probably contributes to the overall image softness. I know that I can feel the earth tremble beneath my feet at times.

Some of the images I hope to post today also appear a bit soft compared to other images taken with the Tamron 17-50. I know the lens is very capable of sharp images. In this last session of shooting the Thunderstorms, I had to hang my Backpack weighing about 35 lbs. to my tripod to keep it upright and help provide a bit more stability because of the heavy winds. In addition, many of my most recent Lightning shots are longer exposures than this to see what different lighting I might pick up. The "unknown" part of these exposures is what makes it so much fun for me. When I used to shoot film, I could not experiment as much with the exposures as I can now.

Vukasin,  Great to get to communicate again with you here on PN! It's been a long time since I've seen you here. Welcome back and looking forward to seeing more of your photography as well.

Again, many thanks to you all for your visits!

Warmest Regards,

Jim j.
