Do you think it's a misstake to just have the head in focus?

Yes, with this angle, all of the critter should be in focus. Also, if you are patient, you can take their image without putting them in a jar. They look better in the natural environment.

This looks like a very bad technique for photographing insects. Sorry for the ratings but couldn't help it.

Although it fills most of the picture, I do not think this picture is all about the cricket. I see it more like an action photo. The cricket's head is in focus and everything that goes around him is unique in Insect Photography. The falling water and the lighting are great. Probably the first 'Action Shot' in Insect photography that I have seen.

So it breaks a couple of boring rules. Has to be the most interesting bug shot I've seen.........
