Hi there, i'm new in this community and try to figure out how

everything works.....this is one of my latest pictures. It's tire

marks of a truck in a near by gravel pit.

I'm happy to get some comments and get to know some of you this way.

Er, well after that comment I guess someone should say "Welcome Mia", so well Welcome Mia. Some tips for using the site. Rule 1. Don't take the rating numbers you get too seriously - the way people use "originality" is not very meaningful. All other rules are variations of rule 1.

Tips: Where it says viewed X times with Y ratings click the number of ratings and see who has scored what, click through their name and you can see their pictures, and what they rate highly and decide if you value their opinion. It's sometimes a useful way round the site to see what else someone likes if they like your work. Posting comments to other peoples pictures will cause people to investigate your work. Also its always worth clicking the folder link above a photo.

 

As for this picture, well its an interesting detail which most people wouldn't notice and the texture is good. A border helps the presentation, but I'm not sure about the thin white line, or the asymetric border and lettering. Hopefully someone will be along shortly to say they really like it ;-)

I chose this pic especially because it's a little bit more " unconventional" and i wanted to see how the guys around here are reacting to that.

I like typo and graphic elements with a photo, but i know this is not " common" yet and most people prefer just the photo and nothing else.

I like the colours. I would recommend perhaps a smaller box and font as it discracts me from the actual photo. Perhaps a smaller square where the broken mud bits are, linked by a single line to the font?

Hi Mia, I like the graphics with this, love your choice of font. A very textural image.

 

I have just purchased a 5050 and trying to like it! I have an Olympus 2100, which with less MP I sorta prefer the image quality I got, except the 5050 has a better macro. Must read my manual!

Welcome on PN, Mia. What I see here I can identify as a nice representation of a simple object. I like textured surfaces. However, I have to agree with James about this thin inner frame, it's bothering me and detracts attention (and the text on the right too).

I like very much the way you compose the pictures and colours are beautiful. All pics are GREAT , congratulations.....
