Lovely work again... maybe a tad more space on the LHS ( and possibly all around too (?) -- but I'm nitpicking here... :-) would have been welcome, but it's  lovely as is already...

Have you tried this one in B&W by any chance...?

Interesting that the space to the left and indeed all round were the exact parts I cropped out.

My reasoning being that the consequential space bottom left looked kind of boring, and the crop seemed to focus more on the boat house.

I have not tried it yet in B & W, but maybe I should post the original uncropped version in B & W, it would be interesting to see how that was perceived.

Sincere Thanks for your thoughts and suggestions Marjolein, very much appreciated!

Possibly better than not jumping out at all?

Cropped and selectively sharpened with slight added contrast on the boat house only........the rest is as it was.

Cheers Jamie!

You are not wearing sun glasses when viewing these per chance?

I think you need to re-calibrate......something : - )

Hi Alf

Your images continue to amaze and impress me!  This one, when viewed large is an absolute visual delight!... The fogginess adds an aspect of mystery, solitude and serenity to this beautiful place.  The reflection on the calm water enhances the atmosphere you so cleverly create and the "styx" frame the boathouse perfectly!..... Excellent work Alf!

Warm regards

This is one of the most visually intense images I have ever seen!! i have spent several tens of minutes studying alternative symmetries perspectives, and tilting and shifting the posts in foreground, in an attempt to see this as if it were in my view finder; so i would probably spend some time studying the composition and framing, but here all i would do is adjust contrast on the objects in the view -- in the center siting from the top of post center foreground, there is something back there that may get more presence, if, desired., with very small contrast adjustments; levels and curves-- the same is true for the group of trees at left center-----VERY VERY small adjustments -- use full size image view, and bring out some detail from the object that looks like a face under the tree  at  near dead center; do not destroy the mystical look with too much contrast.

Thank you so much! I appreciate your support and interest.

The composition was somewhat challenging, and I struggled with the decision to crop the original image, losing the complete reflections of the "styx" in order to eliminate the negative space that would have been in the lower left area.  But after some consideration I think it worked out ok.

Thanks again Jacqueline!

Many Thanks for your thoughtful analysis and consideration, much appreciated!

As you may have read above in my reply to Jacqueline, the composition and final crop took some mulling over, so your conclusion was music to my ears.

I think the suggestion to selectively adjust the area's you have indictated is a good one. It is in fact what I already have done with the main boat house.

I have made the mistake in the past of increasing the contrast to a point where the fog almost dissapears and of course the atmosphere and character of the scene also, so I now approach the PP of such images with a "less is more" attitiude.

However with due diligence and a selective light touch in the suggested area's, I think your suggestions would increase the sense of depth and distant focal interest.

Best Regards
