What I like here is the joy of moment caught,simple old things but that make our life better,yes some more snow would be good for them.Looking this I am not sure if you with intention did it a bit with low contrast,IMO i would try to keep people and snow so as it is and just the surrounding tree a bit more contoured,just an idea.
