I'm not usually a big fan of borders or frames, but having found the earlier version that you referred to, I was surprised to find I liked it better. It did seem to serve a practical purpose of making the image more definitive and presenting it professionaly.

I'm with Alf.  Even before I saw it, I was thinking of a border that tied in with the tree trunks.  Your first one did; this one does not, and the image just mushes in with the photo.net background (that's a bit harsh, but hopefully you get my point).  If I had a comment about the first frame, it would be to simplify it a bit:  all of those bevels and shadows are a bit much, IMO.

 

The image itself really sets the tree trunks off -- everything else fades into nearly the same shade of yellow-tinted white.  I'm not sure what your intention is here, but I hope it has something to do with the trees (young Horse Chestnuts?).
