modestos_modestou 0 Posted July 27, 2003 An artist did a canvass oil painting of this photo to the last detail but thought it was monotonous in colour and added a huge bougainvillea ( rich dark pink bloom ) in the left corner of the frame. I must admit it did look pretty. Any comments ? Link to comment
beepy 0 Posted July 27, 2003 So, you title the picture "The absent friend" and there is a starkness, and the head turned as if looking down the road waiting for their friend to show works for me. I started chuckling when you said the painter added the Bougainvillea (sp? argh) sort of changes the tone to "Man and Bougainvillea" :-) I like the general tones now, introducing "color" would be distracting. john_smith74 0 Posted August 23, 2003 I would be curious also to see it in B&W but somehow I think it will not work as I think the impact of this foto is the way Modestos has tied together all the different shades of beiges and browns, for example the hands, face, chairs and the stone wall. Excellent work !! Link to comment
brian_robson 0 Posted December 30, 2003 I don't think this would work in b/w. The different shades of brown and gold are what give great impact to this image. Where is his Turkish coffee ? Link to comment
bukovsky 0 Posted February 24, 2004 I did not happened to make one of these shots even tough I want to. I am kind of scared to take pictures of strangers thinking they might not like it, but sometimes I have the craving to go to downtown Toronto a shut pictures of real life- the real life, people wondering around, thinking, being stressed etc etc etc. But it not as simple as it sounds :) You did a very nice picture capturing such a natural moment. When I'll do my first picture simmilar to this theme, I'll let you know :) Link to comment
